Day 1 Welcome to Vienna

    On arrival at Vienna Airport, the airport transfers leave for your hotel at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00 & 15:00. Vienna is famous for its delicious coffees and pastries so, after checking in, why not stroll to a local café? Later, join your Tour Director for a warm, friendly Welcome Reception and an opportunity to mingle and get to know each other over a pleasant evening of dinner and wine.

Day 2 Stately Vienna & the Habsburgs

    Join a Local Expert for a private tour of Maria Theresa's Schönbrunn Palace and formal gardens. Continue sightseeing around the famous ring road, built along the lines of the old city walls. After seeing the Opera House, the Hofburg Imperial Residence and Parliament building, the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 3 Zagreb’s Twin Towns

    Head through Styria's forested mountains, past Graz and over the Slovenian border to reach the 700-year-old university town of Maribor. Follow the Drava River to Croatia and its capital, Zagreb. Sightseeing with a Local Expert shows you Roosevelt Square, the attractive facades of Ban Josip Jelačić Square, the cathedral and in the medieval Upper Town, the Presidential Palace, Stone Gate, St. Mark's Church and the Tower of LotršÄak.

Day 4 The Crystal blue-green Lakes of Plitvice

    (Relaxed Start) Indulge in free time in the morning to relax and enjoy your hotel's facilities. Then depart for your rustic hotel, located right inside the UNESCO listed Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Day 5 Plitvice Lakes, Ancient Trogir and Split

    With a Local Expert, tour the Plitvice Lakes, a scenic wonderland of 16 lakes flanked by thundering waterfalls and primeval forest. Visit Korana Canyon's 230 foot high falls and Tomicevo Pogledalo for views over the park. Head down the coast to visit Trogir. Founded by the Greeks in 400BC but now renowned for its fine cathedral and Renaissance Cipiko Palace. Continue to the historic port of Split.

Day 6 Diocletian’s Palace and Dine-Around in Dubrovnik

    Your Local Expert will lead you through the labyrinth of streets that lie within Emperor Diocletian's former palace. See St. Duje's, (originally Diocletian's Mausoleum), the Temple of Jupiter (today, a baptistery) and the Golden Gate. Venture into the basement rooms thought to have housed his slaves. Next, drive by sparkling deep blue seas and the rocky islands of the Dalmatian coast to Dubrovnik. Choose from a selection of local restaurants for your Dine-Around evening.

Day 7 Dubrovnik, Pearl of the Adriatic

    (Relaxed Start) Join a Local Expert to explore the stone-paved streets inside the 16th century bastions. See the Rector's Palace, Onofrio's Fountain, the city walls, as well as the Franciscan and Dominican monasteries. The remainder of your stay is at leisure. Soak up the sun by the pool, relax at a café or take an optional sunset cruise.

Day 8 Scenic Drive to Kotor and Tirana

    Just over the border, visit the old town of Kotor, perched beside the only European fjord outside of Norway. Then travel through the spectacular scenery of Montenegro and the emerging country of Albania. Continue to the warm hearted capital of Tirana for sightseeing with a Local Expert.

Day 9 Drive to Ohrid, one of Europe’s best kept Secrets

    (Relaxed Start) Straddling the Macedonian border, Lake Ohrid forms a bowl in the middle of surrounding mountains, its shores dotted with monasteries and villages. Stay in the pretty lakeside resort town of Ohrid, where a Local Expert will show you the narrow streets of the Old Town. As twilight falls, the café-lined promenades are perfect for an evening stroll.

Day 10 To Skopje and Sofia

    Your first stop is in the Macedonian capital of Skopje, an ultra-modern city with an ancient bazaar, where Turkish influences can still be seen and felt. Then cross the north of the country to the border and continue to Sofia, the ‘city that grows, but never ages', Bulgaria.

Day 11 Highlights of Sofia

    Sightseeing with a Local Expert will take you to the St. Sofia Church, across the square from the golden domed St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the archaeological complex, dominated by the church of St. George Rotonda. The afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps take an optional experience to the Rila Monastery?

Day 12 The Old Bulgarian Capital of Veliko Tarnovo

    Cross the Balkan Mountains to the old capital city of Veliko Turnovo. Join your Local Expert for a stroll along Gurko Street with its cascade of restored old houses. Enjoy unparalleled views down to the Monument of the Assens - symbol of the city. A highlight is the visit to the Tsarevets Fortress, housing a host of archeological remains and a reminder of the town's former imperial status. In the evening, enjoy a Highlight Dinner of local specialties and wine followed by an authentic folklore show.

Day 13 Istanbul & the Ottomans

    Head east, joining the road to Turkey taken by the Romans, the Crusaders and others over the centuries. Once over the border, continue to exotic Istanbul, uniquely located on two continents.

Day 14 Istanbul Sightseeing

    Tour the highlights of Istanbul, including St. Sophia and a visit to the famous Blue Mosque. Go to Topkapi palace, former seat of the Ottoman Emperors, to admire the treasures of the Sultans, before finishing at the shops, tea houses and cafés of which there are over 3,000, at the Grand Bazaar. Your Local Expert will give you a quick lesson on how to beat the stallholders at their own game! Learn the ancient ritual of haggling - the technique, the pitfalls and how much to pay. Your amazing journey culminates at a fantastic Celebration Dinner. Guests joining the Mediterranean Fables Cruise option embark their cruise ship directly after the Istanbul sightseeing and set sail for the Greek Islands.

Day 15 to 18 Cruising the Greek Isles

    (Relaxed Start) After a pleasant morning’s cruising, arrive at the Turkish port of KuÅŸadası. Dock this morning at the island of Santorini, famous for its white cuboid houses that cling to the sheer cliffs.
    Arrive at Agios Nikolaos early morning to spend the day exploring the picturesque island of Crete.
    Cruise to the harbour at Rhodes, ‘the island of roses’. Later, depart for the picturesque island of Symi.
    Weigh anchor in Chios for the morning, then head for Mykonos, with its maze of walkways and windmills.
    While cruising, Breakfast (BB), Lunch (L) and Dinner (D) is served on-board daily. During your voyage there is also a fun-filled Greek Dinner with entertainment.
