Royal Caribbean Cruise Line AU - Europe, Mediterranean My “50th Birthday Mediterranean Cruise Holiday Of A Lifetime” was booked through Cruise Megastore 4 days before my home of Airlie Beach was hit by Cyclone Debbie (Cat 4) which caused huge devastation throughout our Community. We are thankfully safe and without personal injury! Our power has only returned a few days ago. We had no water, loss of income, still without phone lines & many businesses have closed. The Road to Recovery will be long!
Your consultant Morgan Schintler took very good care of our holiday booking made on the 25th March for which we paid an immediate deposit of over $5000.00.
Four days later Cyclone Debbie landed and ever since we have been very resilient in trying to get our lives up and running and helping others. Coupled with seeking repair assessments and restoration work costing us quite a few thousand dollars. It is as a result of Mother Nature delivering her effects I diligently tried last Thursday to ring Morgan on quite a few occasions. Each time I spoke to a different consultant who said she was unavailable and to ring back in 10mins. I made a further 4 attempts then gave up when the last Consultant said she would not be back until Tuesday after Easter.
An email was received from Morgan during the day the following Tuesday to say she would return my call shortly and sent her apologies. That never happened. I rang again and finally spoke to Morgan on Wednesday at 4.30pm, almost 1 week after my Thursday attempts. I discussed the fact that my financial position is a lot different to that it was before the Cyclone and at that stage of making my booking no one knew it was going to hit Airlie Beach directly and affect us so harshly. I discussed the possibility of revising the booking made to go without some privileges and costing us less so we could still afford to go as I so am looking forward so much to my 50th Birthday Holiday! The answer given to that possibility was basically "No….it is what it is" in a roundabout sales marketing response and then the next option (very much reluctantly) of cancelling altogether would still incurr significant costs but was doable with a lot of work on her behalf but at a financial loss once again!
I was then told to go away and think about it! Not sure but I still get the feeling that the Cyclone is still dishing out bad news and lingering on with a little more to give before she fades away from our lives. Next time it may be someone else’s turn for Mother Nature to waive her magic wand and cause hardship and I don't think I am the sort of person who cannot give them my 100% assistance in their time of difficulty.
